Friendly XI fall short
30-06-10
Andrew Skates made his first half-century of the season as Carmel’s Friendly XI slipped to a 22-run defeat to Cheshire side Barrow at Pen-y-Gelli.
The visitors closed on 175/8 in a game reduced to 30 overs as Jack Whitehouse (3-33) finished the pick of the home bowlers.
Oliver Davies (2-23) and talented youngster Daniel Sim (1-22) also got among the wickets as Carmel fielded sharply to effect two run outs.
After the tea interval Skates scored the majority of Carmel’s runs as he retired unbeaten on 53 after Gwion Dafydd (11) fell after a promising start.
An entertaining cameo from Christopher Davies (10) gave Carmel hope while Dafydd Bailey finished not out on 49 but the home side fell just short of the total on 153/6. Full scorecard here…
