Kingsley defeat Carmel
06-06-10
Carmel's Friendly XI slipped to a 55-run defeat to Kingsley on a chilly afternoon at Pen-y-Gelli despite a impressive bowling performance by Dafydd Timothy.
The veteran seamer claimed 3-14 off seven overs as the Cheshire side were restricted to 191/9 off their 40 overs while Derek Johnson (1-7) and Gwion Dafydd (1-18) both bowled impressively.
Lee Rowles picked up 2-37 off his seven overs while junior players Alec Davies (1-28) and Osian Tennant (1-50) also picked up a wicket apiece.
Johnson (15) and Nick Washbrook (22) put on 42 for the first wicket as Carmel's response got under way after the tea interval but wickets fell at regular intervals as the hosts struggled in drizzly conditions.
Davies (11), Dafydd (12), Barry McGauty (21) and stand-in skipper Timothy Abraham (17) all got starts but were unable to convert them into significant scores as Carmel were bowled out for 133 in the 34th over. Full scorecard here...
